A. McConnell purchased Procunier Safety
Chuck Company from Harry Procunier. 1949 John
designed and introduced a Heavy Duty
Tapper ("F" Series).
1954
John developed the hand model Lead Screw
Tapper ("L" Series) combining
the "E" Series with a lead
screw for controlled feed.
1957
Richard A. McConnell, Johns' son,
redesigned the hand style tapper into a
completely self-contained automatic lead
screw tapping, unit and machine. (#1-AL)
1960
Richard designed and introduced a larger
capacity automatic lead screw tapper
(#3-AL) increasing its market share.
1966
Procunier moved from downtown Chicago to
the West Side, doubling its plant size.
1976
Richard A. McConnell became President.
1977
Richard developed and introduced multiple
spindles tapping and drilling heads as an
entry into an additional market.
1981
With the need for larger facilities and
additional equipment. Procunier moved to
its new 31,000 square foot building in
Lakeland, Florida and became a Florida
Corporation.
